Comedy Court Rally On

Comedy Court ~ Rally On

Running time: (2 hours 11 minutes)
Parental advisory: Rated 18+ for several mature jokes.

Comedy Court's "Rally On" entertained and tickled audiences with its clever and witty social satire. The two-week run sold out quickly, and we had to add two more days to the run to keep up with the demand!

The story centered around Thawi's unfortunate visit to the temple, not knowing that it was the planned day thousands of people would flock to the centre of town in support of the BERSIH 3.0 Rally.

As she related her experience being trapped in the Rally to a number of people during the course of her day... her story changed and developed into something completely different... and snowballed eventually into an ending that blew the minds of the audience.

The legendary comedic duo of Allan Perera & Indi Nadarajah played 5 characters altogether. Audiences enjoyed the banter between Mertle & Thawi and the Oblong Bars lawyers Loga & Singam.... and newcomer fashion designer Isabella.

The full show is available for purchase and download in Full HD quality!

Comedy Court - 20th Anniversary Show

Running time: (2 hours 14 minutes)
Parental advisory: Rated 18+ for some mature jokes and subjects.

After 20 years since Comedy Court first graced the comedy scene, the highly-acclaimed comedy duo of Allan Perera and Indi Nadarajah staged their classic characters (Loga and Singam, Mertle and Thawi, and T.K. and T.C) to a sold-out crowd of 7000 showgoers.

The road to 20 years was an adventurous one. Allan actually was playing keyboards in a local band. However, Allan’s stint as a musical director of the Instant Cafe Theatre group in the early 1990s led to change. There, he met theatre actor Indi and also comedian Harith Iskander, who “conned” Allan into acting.

“Harith told me that he only needed me to be piano player on a TV show that he was directing called Bendul (a local spin on Mr Bean in the 1990s). When I turned up for the shoot Harith dumped a line on me,” recalls Allan.

Eventually, Allan got comfortable with acting and he went on to form Comedy Court with Indi in 1997. Their first show was at The Actors Studio in Dataran Merdeka that year. And there’s been no looking back.

Also, Allan and Indi won the Boh Cameronian Arts Award for ensemble acting for their performance in The Importance Of Being Earnest in 2002 for their roles as Gwendolen Fairfax and Lady Bracknell respectively.

“The characters they came up with have become legendary and remain eternal because they are so based on truth and truth is often very funny.” - Harith Iskander.

Malaysia's Got No Shame

Malaysia's Got No Shame

Running time: (2 hours 10 minutes)
Parental advisory: Rated 18+ for a few mature jokes.

Right after Malaysia’s historical change of government in 2018, Allan briefly struggled with writer’s block because he just lost his main source material; what else was he supposed to write after that?

So whilst looking for ideas to write a new show, Allan was taken by surprise by Najib’s “Apa Malu Bossku” campaign in 2019, which gained massive popularity amongst his supporters.

Inspired, Allan came up with “Malaysia’s Got No Shame” from the operative word “Malu” or “Shame”, and wrote parody songs for the people that deserved a song!

He will be singing “You Lost That Last Election”, “How Much is That Lawyer in the Courthouse?”, “Only If You’re Caught”, “Diamonds Were This Gal’s Best Friend”, and more!

In addition to the songs, sit back and laugh as you watch Allan and his characters recap the top stories from April 2018 to May 2019 with an angle that can’t be found anywhere else!

Stories covered include: The effects of Malaysia's historical change of government, MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace’s infamous criticism of Malaysian chicken rendang, Sultan Muhammad V’s famous “Sila Duduk Jangan Lari” joke.

Staged to over 7000 people, “Malaysia’s Got No Shame” received warm reviews from showgoers nationwide.

Enjoy the full performance recording of the show and have a great laugh!

I have never laughed so much in my life. I was falling off my chair. Superb. The two actors were fantastic. I enjoyed it so much more because I grew in India and could identify with the conversation. Keep it up and please post more parodies like this. Thanks. – Succourtash [25]

The characters are real characters just like your next door neighbours..like the people you meet in your daily life. In that sense you can relate to them and the situation. It is brilliantly crafted as to no one from any background would or should be offended by the jokes. Just like Dato' Lat's cartoons.. where you can talk about each others' s culture without any offence. Everything is in goodwill. – Maizura Bsar [26]

When the curtains are drawn and you are left to yearn for more...that's when you know that it's a brilliant performance. This is one of them performances. Kudos!! :-) – Shari Da Baity [27]
